Gentle Support for Relaxation, Awareness and Reconnection
Feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from yourself? Reiki offers a gentle opportunity to pause, reconnect, and create space for rest, awareness, and balance.

The demands of daily life, stress, grief, emotional fatigue, life transitions, caregiving, or simply moving through the world at a constant pace can sometimes leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves. Often we continue functioning, checking tasks off lists and caring for everyone around us, while quietly placing our own needs aside.
Many people arrive saying they feel exhausted, emotionally overwhelmed, mentally busy, or unable to settle. Others may simply say:
“I do not quite feel like myself.”
Reiki offers an opportunity to pause.
At Gaia Natural Therapies, I support individuals throughout Nanaimo, Nanoose Bay, and Vancouver Island who may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally tired, disconnected, or simply seeking greater balance and self-awareness. Reiki sessions are offered within a supportive, compassionate, and client-centered space where you are invited to pause, reconnect with yourself, and allow your body and mind time to rest.
What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive complementary wellness practice that originated in Japan. The word Reiki is commonly understood as universal life energy.
Reiki practitioners use light hand placements on or above the body with the intention of supporting relaxation, balance, and overall well-being.
While Reiki is not intended to diagnose medical conditions or replace medical care, many individuals describe feeling deeply relaxed, emotionally lighter, or more connected to themselves following a session.
Over my years of practice, I have witnessed something difficult to fully measure with words. Sometimes individuals leave feeling calmer. Sometimes they notice greater clarity or awareness. Sometimes they simply feel that they have finally given themselves permission to rest.
Healing does not always begin with doing more.
Sometimes it begins with allowing ourselves to pause.
A Gentle Approach to Relaxation and Balance
Research into Reiki continues to evolve. While Reiki is not considered a replacement for medical care, studies suggest it may help support relaxation and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety while improving overall well-being.
Beyond research, many individuals describe experiences that are deeply personal. Some notice warmth. Some experience a feeling of heaviness or lightness. Others feel emotional shifts or a deep sense of calm. Some notice very little during the session itself and only later recognize changes in how they feel.
There is no right or wrong way to experience Reiki.
Each person’s experience is unique.
What Happens During a Reiki Session?
If this is your first Reiki session, it is natural to feel curious or uncertain.
Sessions begin with a brief conversation where we can discuss your goals, concerns, or anything you would like me to know. You are welcome to ask questions and share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
During the session:
- You remain fully clothed.
- You rest comfortably on a treatment table or seated if preferred.
- Light hand placements may be used on or above the body.
- Comfort, consent, and safety remain priorities throughout the session.
- You may speak, remain quiet, or simply relax.
This time belongs to you.
Some individuals enjoy conversation while others prefer silence and stillness.
There is no expectation to perform, release emotions, or have a particular experience.
What Reiki May Feel Like During Your Session

People often ask what Reiki feels like, and the truth is that experiences vary.
Some individuals describe:
- warmth or coolness
- tingling sensations
- a feeling of heaviness or lightness
- emotional release
- mental quietness
- relaxation
- feeling deeply rested
Some people fall asleep.
Some notice thoughts drifting in and out like a daydream.
Some simply enjoy a peaceful hour away from the demands of life.
Others may feel very little during the session itself and later notice they feel calmer, lighter, or more grounded.
All experiences are normal.

Why I Offer Reiki
For over 25 years I have worked with individuals seeking greater balance, awareness, and connection within themselves. My approach combines Reiki with a heart-centered philosophy of holding supportive space where people feel seen, heard, and respected.
I believe healing is deeply personal.
My role is not to fix or change anyone.
My role is to walk alongside individuals while creating a safe and compassionate space where awareness and healing may unfold naturally.
Whether you are completely new to Reiki or returning to support your own wellness journey, you are welcome exactly as you are. Sessions are offered in Nanaimo and Nanoose Bay in a calm, supportive environment where your comfort and well-being remain the priority.
Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work?
No. Individuals come from many backgrounds and belief systems. Curiosity and openness are welcome, but no specific belief is required.
Will I remain conscious?
Most people remain aware throughout the session while feeling deeply relaxed. Others may drift into a light sleep-like state.
Is Reiki safe?
Reiki is generally considered a gentle, non-invasive complementary practice. It is not intended to replace medical care, diagnosis, or treatment.
How many sessions do people usually have?
Each person is unique. Some individuals seek a single session while others incorporate Reiki into their ongoing self-care and wellness routine.
